Privacy Policy

1. Data you create in Orune

Orune lets you create and manage reflective entries and related information such as tags and app preferences. Your journal content is stored locally on your device.

Orune's pattern and thread features are built from information already attached to your entries, such as tags. They are designed to work deterministically and offline and do not use AI to read or infer the content of your journal entries.

2. Voice input

If you choose to use voice input, Orune requests access to your device microphone for that action. Orune receives the recognised text and does not intentionally retain raw microphone audio as journal data.

Speech recognition may rely on functionality provided by your operating system, device manufacturer or speech-recognition provider. Depending on the service available on your device, audio may be processed on-device or transmitted to that provider and an internet connection may be required. Processing performed by those services is governed by the relevant provider's terms and privacy practices.

3. Backups and exports

Orune allows you to create backups and exports of your data. If automatic backup is enabled, Orune saves backup copies to the destination you select through the Android system. That destination may be local storage or a provider-backed location such as Google Drive, depending on the storage providers available on your device.

Orune does not operate its own cloud storage service for your journal. When you choose an external or cloud-backed destination, the backup copy is stored there at your direction and the selected provider is responsible for its own storage and synchronisation practices.

Orune does not currently apply its own encryption to backup files. You should therefore choose a storage destination you trust and protect access to that destination appropriately.

Readable exports, such as PDFs where offered, are also stored or shared only when you choose a destination. Once a backup or export has been saved or shared outside Orune, its subsequent storage, retention and handling are controlled by that destination.

4. Sharing

When you deliberately use Orune's share function, the app prepares content for you to share through a destination you select. Orune does not automatically publish your entries or send them to Inner Echo Studio.

5. Memberships, purchases and RevenueCat

Orune uses Google Play to process Android subscription purchases and RevenueCat to manage subscription status and access entitlements. Payments are processed by Google Play; Inner Echo Studio does not receive your full payment-card details.

For subscription management, RevenueCat receives information necessary to validate and maintain your membership status. This may include a randomly generated anonymous App User ID, purchase and subscription information such as Google Play purchase tokens and transaction status, and limited technical information about the device or operating system needed to provide the service. Orune does not require an account solely for membership management.

Your thoughts, journal text, tags, backups, exports, microphone audio and the content you share are not sent to RevenueCat for subscription management. RevenueCat is not used by Orune to read journal content, personalise advertising or build an advertising profile.

Optional RevenueCat advertising, attribution and third-party analytics integrations are not enabled for Orune. RevenueCat processes subscription information as a service provider in accordance with its own contractual and privacy obligations.

6. Advertising, selling and profiling

Orune does not display advertising. Inner Echo Studio does not sell your journal content or personal data and does not use your journal content for behavioural advertising or profiling.

7. Deleting your data

Orune provides controls to delete locally stored thoughts and entries. Uninstalling the app can also remove locally stored app data, subject to Android's behaviour and any device-level backup or restore features outside Orune's control.

Deleting local data in Orune does not delete backup or export files that you previously saved outside the app. Those copies must be deleted from the destination where you chose to store them.

Deleting local journal data also does not erase purchase or subscription records maintained by Google Play or RevenueCat where those records are required to provide the subscription service, restore purchases, prevent fraud or meet legal obligations.

8. Cloud storage and synchronisation

Orune does not upload your journal to an Inner Echo Studio cloud account and does not provide automatic cross-device journal synchronisation through its own servers. Cloud-backed storage can be involved only when you choose such a location for a backup or export through the operating system.

9. Offline use

Core journal data is designed to remain local and usable offline while access is valid. Subscription status may be cached on the device. A fresh installation with no previously verified membership state may need an internet connection to start a trial, verify a purchase or restore membership.

10. Support communications

If you contact Inner Echo Studio for support, we receive the information you choose to provide in your message, including your email address and message contents. Please do not send journal content unless it is necessary for your support request and you are comfortable sharing it.

11. Service providers

Depending on the features you choose to use, information may be processed by third-party services that support Orune's operation. These can include Google Play for purchases and subscriptions, RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management, your device or platform speech-recognition service for optional voice input, and a storage provider you select for backups or exports. Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy practices.

12. Retention

Journal content remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the app or it is otherwise removed by your operating system. Backup and export copies remain in the destination you selected until you delete them there.

Subscription and transaction information processed by Google Play and RevenueCat may be retained for the periods necessary to provide subscription functionality, maintain purchase history, comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud, in accordance with those providers' applicable policies.

Support communications are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, maintain relevant correspondence and meet applicable legal obligations.

13. Children

Orune is not directed at children and is not designed specifically for use by children. Any age requirements shown in the applicable app store or required by local law should be followed.

14. Data controller and legal basis

For personal data that Inner Echo Studio actually receives or processes, the data controller is Laura Bonifazi, trading as Inner Echo Studio.

Your journal content remains locally on your device and is not accessible to Inner Echo Studio in the ordinary operation of Orune.

Where the GDPR applies, processing by Inner Echo Studio is carried out where necessary to provide the service you request, manage or verify subscription access, respond to you, comply with legal obligations, or on the basis of legitimate interests such as maintaining the security and reliability of the service.

15. Your rights

Where applicable under the GDPR or other data-protection law, you may have rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and objection in relation to personal data processed by Inner Echo Studio. Because journal content is stored locally and is not held in an Inner Echo Studio account, Inner Echo Studio generally cannot access, retrieve, correct or delete that local content on your behalf.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Orune evolves, particularly if storage, subscription or other data-handling features change. The current version will remain available at this URL.
